A subreddit for non-retail World of Warcraft servers and emulation, as well as spreading the word about servers worth playing on. I use this site to find all information about pets :. This is correct. Reason being that when you crit as a hunter, you proc Go for the Throat, which replenishes some of your pet's energy.
Lightning Breath scales with RAP and costs a large amount of energy so the more you crit, the more the serpent can cast it. If you don't feel like leveling with a Ravager you can just get a 70 one from the Netherwing mines. Ravager and Wind Serpent for pve.
Scorpid and boar for pvp scorpid wins hands down but the boar charge is useful in situations. Just my 2 cents. Good point The howl only effects one attack after to your group not raid and doesn't do as much dmg from what I have seen as a wind serpent. Although I am sure enhancement shamans would love you more for it since the Serpent spends their procs.
I think the 1st ones you can fight are in Thousand Needles could be wrong, have only really leveled on Horde side so alliance might get them earlier. I've leveled 2 hunters in TBC. You want the ravager as soon as you can get it, I think level 59 there are some in southern Hellfire. The ravager is the highest dps pet because it can learn 2 dps moves bite, gore and can also use dash which is useful for chasing in world PVP when used with Intimidation stun.

For those of you that played a hunter during that time what was your experience like? How did they perform at the beginning of the xpack compared to the end of vanilla and how did they play at the end of tbc when sunwell dropped.
My favorite thing about the hunter is the micromanagement. I only play with my pet on passive and control it a few macros. I find that is the aspect that always draws me to hunter.
Scorpid all day son. What I haven't seen mentioned either is that scorpid was mandatory in arena. Hunters played a mans drain style hinged around keeping the mana sting up as long as possible. Since scorpid poison counted as 5 stacks, it was used to mask the dispel. True shot doesn't scale and only effects the group.
Not worth the personal dps loss for the group ap buff. If I recall correctly I think having one hunter SV for the expose weakness was correct. I'm not entirely sure how long it is viable though.
MM might be better in the gearing stage of lategame. BM was powerful as fuck and while manually performing your rotation would yield higher dps than the one button monkey macro spammers, it wasnt as huge a difference as you would have preferred. So you played the 'right' way for meager gain. I was salty that entire expansion until WOTLK killed the one button dps macro and all the other baddies had their dps plummet as they figured out how to actually "play" the fucking class.
Edit: Also IIRC TBC was when you as a hunter popped a Fel Mana pot just before the tank aggroed the boss, so your pot cooldown would reset again 2m into the fight allowing the use of another pot. Very simple 1-button rotation for max single target dps, great CC, can keep 3 mobs busy at once if you're skilled.
Sadly, there's a reason they're called "huntards" - most players can't even be bothered to manage their pet - much less time traps, kite, and keep Mr Scratch from pulling the entire room all at once. Actually the reason for the huntard calling is because goldfarmers played hunters back in the days, goldfarmers aren't known for playing well or communicating. I hear this all the time but I played since launch day and every single gold farmer was a rogue or a paladin.

Pet trainers could previously teach those pet abilities that the hunter had not yet learned. Since Patch 3. Pet trainers now exist to allow the hunter to re-spec his or her pet's talents. Unlike player character re-specs, pet re-specs are always free. The hunter must have a pet summoned in order to alter pet talents. See Hunter pets 3. Pet trainers also offer to restore bind-on-pickup vanity pets that have been deleted without being learned.

Obviously, faction is just as important as the choice of look and feelif not more so. Do you want to fight for the Alliance or for the Horde.? Currently, Gnomes are the only race excluded from the hunter class. Worgen wins out over Dwarf because they enjoy a crit bonus on all attackswhere as Dwarves only see the benefit from attacks that use guns.
In addition to the crit bonus, Worgen also have a the very handy movement speed increase buff — Darkflight.
While not a direct boost to DPS, increased movement speed is always a huge plus. Thanks for drawing attention to that Whitefyst.
It offers an advantage over other races, as it allows a hunter to equip two DPS trinkets — one proc based, with another on-use trinket. Given that trinkets provide some of the biggest DPS gains via gear, this allows human hunters to put out some insane damage in PvP. The Horde have their act together, allowing all races access to the most esteemed class in all of WoW.
The only case where I can definitely recommend one over the other is if the hunter is specced Beast Mastery — in that case, Orc wins out due to Command. Both races offer nice boosts to DPS. As I stated earlier, your choice of hunter race should be based mostly upon what you like.
Racials can provide a slight advantage in various areas of play, but the biggest performance factor is always going to be the player behind the toon. If you have anything to add to the discussion, or if you have any further questions, please leave your comments below.
Actually, about my previous undead hunter comment… undead would attract so many dogs its crazy, and on world of wargraphs only 0. Also, Undead are badass generally…. Personally, for Alliance, I would probably go with Human.
Human due to awesome animations, and EMFH. Also, humans just look cool. Worgen are werewolves… why pick up a gun?
Night elves… i just wanted to tear those pointy ears off… Dwarves, love em. Draenei… why? For Horde: Personally, I know its odd but… Tauren. Part of their quests is running out and taking out Birds. Also, Leather cracks me up on a Tauren. Undead… OK, but bones sticking out. Tries to tame dog… Dog chews… Orc? Blood elves… WTF? I have a bunch not admitting how many but the one I play most is my Worgen, I just think she looks cool.
Thus, you get much better benefits from the crit racial when the racials allow you to reforge that particular stat. Very good point.Forgot your password? By haxoAugust 24, in Hunter. Hello, I currently have the The Rake from Mulgore, but he no longer has 1. So I've been doing research through old reddit posts from TBC and I can't really get a straight answer in terms of what pet to get. I had the following questions: 1. Do all pets have 2. I read that Wind Serpents have the best DPS because of their lightning breath ranged attack that ignores armor, is this true?
I also read that Ravager is the preferred end-game pet Any input would be much appreciated. Train cobra reflexes too, helps your pet hold agro when soloing and I think will lower it's attack speed to something closer to what you're use to having.
Also, cats are still a really good dps pet with bite and claw as a BM hunter. Claw does slightly higher damage than gore but doesn't have the double damage chance that gore has. So if you're attached to your cat pet, you can absolutely keep him without nerfing yourself. Also great info to know, thank you! Or will it depend from pet to pet? Edited: June 27, I miss 1 pic here but the site is wiped a long time ago and cant find it on my PC. Crit starts at Dodge starts at The actual damage bonus per attack depends on weapon speed.
In the case of many abilities, the Attack Power contribution is normalized. So, using a 2. Whenever you make a ranged attack, you have a chance of the following: Miss Crit Hit The above all have a chance to happen, based on your and your target's stats. Bosses are considered to be 3 levels higher than you when it comes to calculations regarding hit, crit, resists and glancing blows, parries and dodges - melee only. More recent observations suggest a 2 roll system is being used for special attacks: First a roll to see whether you hit or not, then another roll to determine if you crit or made a regular hit.
The exact roll system used for Hunters is hard to determine. The results are, in the case of Hunter attacks, very similar. Melee attacks, which suffer from parries and dodges, and often a higher miss rate than our ranged attacks, have results differing much more.
PVE Beast Mastery Hunter Guide (TBC 2.4.3)
Currently, I assume a standard 1 roll system for all attacks for my calculations. It is added in the other shots, where applicable. Frenzy and Master Tactician The average uptime of these two talents can be calculated in similar ways, by calculating the chance of the buff not being active, then inversing it. If you fire 1 shot per second, you'll fire 8 shots during the proc. The same principles can be applied to Improved Aspect of the Hawk, but the damage gained from it is much more difficult to model, due to the varying shots, cast delays overlapping with Auto Shot timers, etc.
Note that this also is true to a much lesser degree in Frenzy's case, due to the change of attack speed before and after the proc, making the above slightly simplified for calculating Frenzy uptime.
